My first time riding an E-Bike in Colombia

I had the opportunity to enjoy a cycling tour with Andes Domestique in the beautiful department of Antioquia, and the experience was simply exceptional. From the very first moment, the Andes Domestique team demonstrated incredible support and knowledge. Their professionalism and friendliness made us feel safe and well cared for throughout the entire journey.
The route they prepared was incredibly entertaining. We started from the municipality of El Retiro, passing through La Ceja and climbing up to Alto de la Unión. Each section of the ride offered us stunning natural landscapes and a refreshing air that revitalized our spirits. The feeling of safety was ever-present, allowing us to fully immerse ourselves in the experience. There’s nothing quite like pedalling surrounded by green mountains and a dazzling blue sky!
Moreover, Andes Domestique provided us with top-notch E-Bikes. It was our first time using one, and we were pleasantly surprised by how lightweight and easy to handle they were. They felt just like our conventional bikes but came with the added advantage of three levels of assistance: minimum, medium, and maximum. Most of the journey was done with minimum assistance, which allowed us to fully enjoy the exercise and the surroundings. There were even long stretches where we turned off the assistance completely, feeling the true essence of cycling.
In sections where the incline was steeper, we relied on medium assistance, which was simply wonderful. It enabled us to enjoy the scenery while undertaking a physical challenge that was completely manageable, making each ascent a pleasurable experience. The combination of the E-Bike and the breathtaking backdrop made every kilometre worth it. Without a doubt, it’s an excellent way to explore the mountains of Colombia.
Along the route, we had the chance to stop at various scenic viewpoints to take in the beauty of the surroundings and capture photographs that will remain etched in our memories. As we continued, we shared laughter and anecdotes with fellow cyclists, which made the experience all the more enriching.
One of the highlights was visiting a quaint local café where we savoured authentic paisa food and the famous Colombian coffee. Each bite was an explosion of flavours and reminded me how wonderful simple pleasures can be.
In summary, it was a highly satisfying experience, and we are certainly looking forward to reliving it.
