From Andes mountain range to beyond
By Luis Esteban Perez
I’ve been riding bikes for as long as I can remember. My dad was into mountain biking and occasionally raced, so it didn’t take long for me to catch the bug. From a young age, cycling became tied to that sense of freedom that’s stuck with me ever since—it’s become part of who I am.
From time to time, we used to ride the MTB racetracks from previous days with Pablo, when we were in high school. I went to the Fixed gear bike phase, which taught me a lot about applied physics, and I’ve always been a dedicated bike commuter.

But Road cycling—now that’s where I found my true passion. Cycling has brought some of the most important people into my life, giving me purpose and discipline, even when motivation was hard to find. Thanks to my bike, I’ve been to places I never thought possible and experienced cities around the world in ways most people don’t.
Professionally, I started out as an engineer, but thanks to my dedication and hard work I am fortunate enough to live in Vancouver, Canada, where I get to work in the cycling industry—specifically with the largest Granfondo in North America.

Cycling is now a part of my everyday life, and I couldn’t be more thankful for it.
Being part of Andes Domestique means I have the opportunity to share with the cycling community in my new home the best parts of my country—Colombia’s beautiful landscapes, routes, and rich cycling culture—elements that shaped me into the cyclist I am today. It also allows me to connect with others through Colombia’s deep-rooted cycling legacy, which has always been strong and continues to grow.
